Welcome to the Cloudy with a Chance of
Pain data map. You can explore pain and other symptoms for all of those
who took part in the study, as well as how these change through time
with different weather conditions.
Cloudy with a Chance of Pain collected data from January 2016 until
April 2017 with over 13,000 people getting involved. Participants all
had long-term pain conditions and were asked to record pain and other
symptoms every day on a phone app. The GPS on people’s phones meant we
could link their symptoms with the local weather. Thanks to their
efforts we had over 5 million symptoms to examine.
As well as looking at pain, you can also look at fatigue, mood,
wellbeing and morning stiffness. You can look at people’s symptoms where
you live and compare with other locations in the UK. The map shows data
collected throughout 2016, starting late January. If there are fewer
than 5 people reporting pain in a particular location, the map will
report ‘NO DATA’. This is so that single individuals can’t be
identified.
